Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (MXTX) is a globally renowned and New York Times’ bestselling author whose works are often cited as the most well-known of the modern danmei genre. Originally self-published in Chinese via the novel serialization website, JJWXC, her current novel series include The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System, Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, and Heaven Official’s Blessing, all available in English from Seven Seas. Her titles have enormously popular multimedia adaptations and have been published in numerous languages around the world.

The three novel series by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, also known as MXTX–Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Heaven Official’s Blessing, and the original debut The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System–have turned into multimedia franchises driving the huge popularity of the danmei genre throughout China and the world.

This fantasy novel series is the newest (and longest) tale from the wildly popular author and is being published in numerous languages. It inspired comics, an ongoing animated series, and an upcoming 2022 live-action series from the director of the massively popular series The Untamed (based off the Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation novel series from this author).

An animated series (donghua) began simulcast streaming in October 2020, and gathered 100+ million views in its first month. The English version debuted through Funimation with a later release on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube, with a second season coming soon. It increased the series (and author’s) huge global fanbase; Heaven Official’s Blessing was repeatedly a trending topic in North American Twitter as the animation streamed new episodes.

This beautiful, large-trim English edition will include the Chinese covers specially adapted by the original artist for our left-to-right release, as well as exclusive B&W internal illustrations from a popular fanartist.

Due to Chinese laws and standards, most of the multimedia adaptations have had to downplay the romance between the male leads, but the original novels contain the uncensored romance, including sexual content.

Although the animated adaptation and comic are available in English, this will be the first official English release of the original novels–sure to be one of the highest-profile publications in Seven Seas history.
