Biographical Notes:
Hajime Segawa is a comic artist and character designer based out of Tokyo, Japan. He made is cartooning debut in the March 2005 issue of Kadokawa Publishing’s Monthly Shonen ACE magazine with the short-story Phantom Kingdom (a comic adaptation of the PlayStation video game Makai Kingdom: Chronicles Of The Sacred Tome). He is best known for being the author & artist of Raisekamika, Tokyo ESP x Ga-Rei: Shadow Walker, Ga-rei – Tsuina no Shou, Tokyo ESP, and Ga-rei.
Title Notes:
Action Packed and Full of Comedy: Tokyo ESP is a fast-paced sci-fi action series featuring lots of well drawn and choreographed action, mixed in with surreal comedic scenes. Fully utilizing its youthful cast and themes of ESP and the paranormal, ESP is a very upbeat modern comic that should appeal to an audience much broader than just the anime/manga community.
Critics have compared Tokyo ESP to a Marvel’s X-Men franchise, often making connections to the battles between young psychics and espers, to those of the mutants seen in the X-Men series
Soon as the animated TV series of Tokyo ESP debuted in Japan, July 2014, it was immediately picked up by American film studios Funimation (Attack on Titan) for distribution in the United States.
