Biographical Notes:

Atsushi Ohkubo’s debut manga series, B.ICHI, originally appeared in Square Enix’s MONTHLY SHONEN GANGAN magazine. Upon completion of the series, his concept for SOUL EATER began as a series of shorts appearing in the same magazine and later became the long-running work that has earned him international renown. In 2011, he began working on a prequel series entitled SOUL EATER NOT!

BESTSELLING SERIES IN JAPAN. Ohkubo’s SOUL EATER is already a phenomenon in the Japanese market having been so successful as to spawn an animated series, and that awareness and enthusiasm has begun filtering into the American market already. This is one of the mostly hotly anticipated new manga properties for 2009!

PERFECT TIMING. SOUL EATER will launch in October, the perfect month for this Halloween-esque series to debut. The release of the first volume of the manga will also be quickly followed by the release of the animation of the series in November by the top anime firm in the US, Funimation. Discussions are already underway regarding cross-promoting between these two formats.

BUILDING AWARENESS. SOUL EATER has been a lead title in the YEN PLUS monthly manga anthology since its launch in July 2008, helping to further raise awareness of this property.
