Qualia Under the Snow

Kobayashi Akio, lover of all things flora, but not particularly fond of people. Oohashi Umi, is a man whose relationships never seem to progress past one-night-stands with the same sex. Now, these two attend the same college, and are staying in the same dorm. Umi begins to warm up to Akio, and in turn Akio slowly lets Umi worm his way into his good graces.

But one day, Umi says to Akio, “You’re a nice guy, senpai. I didn’t even have to let you sleep with for you to stick around.” Akio couldn’t even begin to understand what Umi was going through…

Biographical Notes:

Kanna Kii is a Japanese comic artist and illustrator, who has previously worked under the name NIWA. A former animator, they have been working as an illustrator since 2010. In 2014 they began to work within the manga industry as they launched the renowned series Seaside Stranger (Seven Seas).

Title Notes:

Kii Kanna does an excellent job conveying spaces as lived-in settings rather than just replaceable backdrops to the drama. Across all their time together the pair live surrounded by such touches of nature[…], thriving examples of life that endure much like their own affections. – AIPT
