Biographical Notes:
Arina Tanemura began her manga career in 1996 when her short stories debuted in Ribon Original magazine. She gained fame with the 1997 publication of I•O•N, and ever since her debut Tanemura has been a major force in shojo manga with popular series Phantom Thief Jeanne, Time Stranger Kyoko, Full Moon, The Gentlemen’s Alliance † and Sakura Hime: The Legend of Princess Sakura. Both Phantom Thief Jeanne and Full Moon have been adapted into animated TV series.
Arina likes Japanese pop music and loves the Final Fantasy game series. She has one elder and one younger sister and one brother. She hates to lose (in every point of view) and she loves Shueisha’s Margaret Magazine. She says that she is too fat and that she dislikes her face. She has two cats named Riku and Kai, you can find many photos of them on her homepage. She wants to draw like no-one else (she can’t lose…) and loves to go to karaoke with her assistants.
She’s not really a fan of yaoi (boys’ love) manga much, but she has made a yaoi doujinshi (no specified title) for one of her friends. She has also made a few adults-only comics on Full Moon wo Sagashite and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, as well as more yaoi ones as of 2019. Her nicknames include the sobriquets “Arinacchi” and “Arinaccho” (Arinaccho is a humorous play on Arinacchi, and was said just because of the ridiculousness of it all).
