Winner of the Kodansha Manga Award for Bari Bari Densetsu, Shuichi Shigeno started writing Initial D, which has become one of the top bestselling manga of all time, in 1995.

The anime is a perennial top performer on streaming sites, streaming on Netflix, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Funimation. The Hong Kong live-action adaptation–“King of Mandopop” Jay Chou’s acting debut–is also a cult favorite.
