Title Notes:
The Basis for the Hit Anime: Mysterious Girlfriend X was one of the surprise hits if 2014, as it covers a genre that has recently been under-represented in that community – the rom-com. Mysterious Girlfriend was consumed by men and women alike and as a romance-comedy was age appropriate for high school anime clubs. The manga is equally as accessible and should be appealing to a broad audience.
Built-in Audience: Like Vertical’s sleeper hit AJIN: Demi-Human, Mysterious Girlfriend is currently available online for subscription on the web entertainment service CrunchyRoll. On the service the series actually performs better than AJIN making it one of the top five series on the platform with more than 30,000 reads a month. Mysterious Girlfriend has also rated high on Vertical’s seasonal customer surveys as a title readers most want to see in print.
Affordable Omnibus Edition: Vertical will be releasing each of the 6 volumes of this series in 440-page omnibus paperbacks collecting two volumes of the Japanese edition for $16.95 each. Each book will feature color plates, letters to the author and extra comics that were never translated before.
