Hitori “Bocchi” Gotoh once played guitar in solitude, but ever since Nijika roped her into joining Kessoku Band, she’s started to emerge from her shell…kinda. She may still be a nervous wreck, but with a show or two under her belt, a part-time job, and even some real-life friends, those rocker fantasies don’t seem so unrealistic anymore! However, the band’s about to face its biggest challenge yet-performing onstage at the school festival! Can Bocchi hold it together and become a rock legend, or will she embarrass herself in front of the entire student body? (Why not both?!)

Biographical Notes:

Aki Hamaji is best known for being the author of Bocchi the Rock! Gaiden: Hiroi Kikuri no Fukazake Nikki. for being the author & artist of JC no Miryoku wo Tanoshimu Kenzen na Anthology Comic, Kirari Books Meisouchuu!, Tawawa na Oppai wa Suki desu ka? Kyonyuu Shoujo Anthology Comic, and Bocchi the Rock!.

In 2012, Hamazi applied for the 71st Newcomer Comic Awards (Girl/Women Category) at Shogakukan and won an honorable mention, and made its debut in 2013 with Swan☆Complex published in the super-large special issue of Ciao Deluxe in spring.

Title Notes:

This fun high school comedy features a shy and anxious protagonist who just wants to make friends, similar to the popular manga and anime series Komi Can’t Communicate.

An anime adaptation of Bocchi the Rock! was one of the biggest titles of the Fall 2022 season, and is available to stream on Crunchyroll.

The Bocchi the Rock! manga announcement was one of the biggest acquisition announcements ever on Yen Press social media.
